Plaque Formations

Plaque is the sticky film of bacteria that forms on teeth. It makes teeth feel fuzzy to the tongue and is most noticeable when teeth are not brushed.

Plaque develops when foods containing carbohydrates are left on teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth thrive on these carbohydrates, producing toxic acids as a result.

Plaque is made up of masses of harmful germs that live in the mouth and stick to the teeth.

Plaque is a sticky, colorless film of bacteria and sugars that constantly forms on our teeth. It is the main cause of gum disease as it hardeneds  into tartar if not routinely removed.

Everyone develops plaque because bacteria are constantly forming. These bacteria use carbohydrates to grow. Plaque that is not removed can irritate the gums around teeth, developing into dental tartar and leading to gingivitis, periodontal disease and tooth loss.

Periogen® is in itself a strong anti-microbial which kills germs that lead to tartar formation.  Regular Periogen® use disrupts plaque formations and prevents tartar from forming.
